Meet artist-in-residence Chad Wong at Griffin’s residency space to view the featured Capture Festival exhibition "我住喺呢度嘅!/I live here!”

"我住喺呢度嘅!/I live here!" strives to confront the complexities of memory, longing, and remembrance. This residency and exhibition project is artist Chad Wong's homage to the resilience of individuals in the face of adversity and a testament to the enduring power of images to bridge time, distance, and the boundaries of our own lives. Wong's residency will culminate in a three-day exhibition at the Griffin Residency space, as part of the 2024 Capture Photography Festival on April 26 - April 28 from 12-5pm at the Griffin Studios, 1180 Welch St, North Vancouver.

As a visual artist based in Vancouver, Chad Wong explores the majority of his work through the lens of a first-generation Chinese-Canadian immigrant. His artistic expression can be described as photo-based conceptualism with a focus on identity and nostalgia. Wong's artistic practice aims to explore and examine the diverse intricacies of the Chinese-Canadian identity within greater Vancouver through the documentation of shared cultural spaces, particularly Chinese-Canadian shopping malls and plazas.

Friday, April 26 - Sunday, April 28 – 12:30 - 5:00 PM — Three-day Capture Exhibition and Open Studio (in-person)

Saturday, April 27 – 1 - 2:30 PM — Live from the Studio (via Zoom)

This exhibition is part of the 2024 Capture Photography Festival Selected Exhibitions Program.
