Curator’s Tour with Lisa Baldissera

Join Lisa Baldissera, Griffin Art Projects director and curator of Per Diem II: The Gerd Metzdorff Collection, for an in-person curator’s tour followed by a Q&A. 

With the passing of this enigmatic and remarkable collector, Gerd Metzdorff’s stunning collection is presented to the public for the first time at Griffin Art Projects.

Per Diem II: The Gerd Metzdorff Collection features the international painting collection of Vancouver collector Gerd Metzdorff. Following up on Per Diem, which featured primarily photo-based and print work, Per Diem II will focus on painting in all its forms, along with selected sculptures and prints.

Dr. Lisa Baldissera has worked as an independent curator, consultant and writer, and in curatorial roles in public art galleries in Western Canada since 1999, including Senior Curator at Contemporary Calgary (2014-16) and Chief Curator at the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon (2012-14). She was Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria from 1999 to 2009, where she produced more than fifty exhibitions of local, Canadian, and international artists. Baldissera received her PhD in Curating and Art Writing through Goldsmiths College, London, in 2021, and holds MFAs in Creative Writing (UBC) and Art (University of Saskatchewan). Baldissera has served on contemporary art juries across Canada, including the Canada Council for the Arts, Saskatchewan Arts Board, RBC Canadian Painting Competition, the Hnatyshyn Foundation Visual Arts Awards, the Sobey Art Award, British Columbia Arts Council and as a guest of the British Arts Council outreach program. Recent curatorial projects include, William Kentridge: The Colander and Person/ne as well as the recent print publication release, Emily Carr: Life and Times through Art Canada Institute.
