This Spring, Griffin Art Projects marks its 10th anniversary by celebrating the collections and generous collectors who have been part of Griffin's journey over this decade.
The anniversary celebration unfolds in three parts: the first is TENXTEN, an exhibition that features 10 collections at Griffin from May 30 to September 7, 2025. The selection, developed collaboratively, with each collector, reveals the depth and breadth of Vancouver collections, through the work of outstanding international and Canadian artists.
The second component is the TENXTEN public program, which accompanies the show. For this part of the project, Griffin has collaborated with Contemporary Art Society Vancouver to develop a series of onsite/Zoom talks and receptions that focus on three themes that unite the generosity and legacies of the Freybes as well as the collectors we have worked with: Nurturing Talent, Community Building/Generosity and Legacy.
The talks focus on collecting through an informal storytelling lens focussing on the collections journey, how it has unfolded and its significance to each collector. Storytelling is understood in this series, as a methodology for sharing what is often a unique and personal process that unfolds and changes over time.
A note that the group of collectors who loans to the show and those who wish to participate in the public program series may overlap, and each collector has decided if they wish to participate in the public program series, the exhibition, or both as part of their participation in the project.
Finally, in Fall 2025, the exhibition Christos Dikeakos: The Collectors, features photo-portraits of the extraordinary people who have made collecting a central way of experiencing the world around them. See HERE for details.
